History - How it all began..

In 1945 the locksmith Joseph Pichler decided to move from Vorarlberg to Tyrol because of lack of work! With his wife Edeltraud and daughter (also Edeltraud), he moved to Ried and opened a locksmith at the exact spot where the Riederhof stands today! A few years later a petrol station was built on the same premises. At that time the main road went directly through the town!

In 1960, the bypass around Ried was opened, and an apartment house was added to the service station. Due to the bypass it was now so much quieter and thus more comfortable for guests in Ried! The police officer Franz Mangott married the daughter Edeltraud Pichler and had four children. The youngest son Peter became an apprentice as a cook, and as a result, the guest house was expanded to include more rooms and a restaurant! Slowly but surely Hotel Riederhof increased in size! With the bypass around Ried and the duty free zone in Samnaun, fewer and fewer customers came to the petrol station, so this was shut down!

In 1991 Peter Mangott  married Helga, who is originally from Styria. Together they improved the hotel, adding rooms, a sauna and the hotel lobby! Through the various seminars and training courses at the hotel, you quickly find out what Peter's and Helga's greatest passions are! These include: hiking, motorcycling, bike riding, fly fishing and dogs! Accordingly, hobby enthusiasts sharing the same passion end up staying at Hotel Riederhof!

Another new addition was built in fall 2007: a large pine outdoor sauna, and new massage rooms! The dining rooms and restaurants were also renovated and redecorated! So you may look forward to visiting an even more beautiful Hotel Riederhof!
