Snowshoeing in Tirol

Have you tried snowshoeing? Hardly any other sport gives you access to a hitherto unknown but highly attractive facet of the winter.
With relatively simple means and with virtually no technical skill this new trendy sport is just a lot of fun! With snowshoes you will discover idyllic winter next to slopes and groomed trails, unspoiled valleys and snowy mountains, promising pasturelands, loose powder snow. You will enjoy the silence and solitude of snowshoeing on your tours. Snowshoe tours do not always have alpine peaks as the goal. The focus is on the enjoyment of nature.
Snowshoeing - Riederhof
Experience fascinating moments and complete silence when walking through deep woods and meadows with your snow shoes...
Tips for equipment and walking technique when snowshoeing:
The heavier the person, the larger the surface of the snowshoe should be. Yet snowshoes are stable and easy to use. Snowshoe boots replace mountain or hiking boots, but should be waterproof and breathable. The European Hiking Hotels offer a wide range of snowshoes, for beginners to advanced.
Your clothing should also be permeable, as some tours in deep snow can be quite strenuous.
Make your first experience with the help of certified tour guides, although no special training or skills are required. Whoever can walk, can also snowshoe. A little bit of endurance, however, would be advantageous. For poles, usually cross-country or hiking poles are adequate However, it would be better to use special snow and Nordic walking poles to reduce the jolting effect when walking. But you can learn the correct walking technique as demonstrated by our guide, who has received training through the European Hiking Hotels.
In case you decide to snowshoe alone in deep snow, please respect the wild animals in their habitats. It is also essential to plan the walk in advance and take along avalanche beepers in case of an avalanche emergency. More information available through the hotel management.
